Mechanic-Lead - AECOM - United States





AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the MOSC-A contract for a Lead Mechanic . The Lead Mechanic at the Field Support, Direct Support (DS) and General Support (GS) level performs a full range of overhaul, repair, and service of all wheeled vehicles/equipment, both tactical and non tactical. Troubleshoots and repairs work on suspensions, engines, frames, transfers, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, fuel and pneumatic systems, steering mechanisms and turbo chargers. Ensures that safety and environmental guidelines are followed without exception. Maintains and oversees section tool/bench stock room and operation. Acts as primary key custodian of sections IAW Army Regulation 190-51, Appendix D. Conducts cross training for other employees. Assist the Supervisor with assigning and monitoring work load.Performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 4-5 years experience as a mechanic required.

  • Must be able to pass General Trade Skill PQS within 30 days of hire. c) Must have knowledge of diesel engines.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret US Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • May be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

  • Must be able to function with a basic level of the English language, both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of demonstrated leadership preferred.

  • US Army MOS 91B or equivalent preferred.

  • May be required to obtain a military drivers license.
