(AFG) C130H Instrument & Flight Control Subject Matter Expert Trainer
THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING Job Description: The USG has a requirement for one (1) C130H instrument & flight control subject matter expert trainer to assist in curriculum development, instruction and advising related to analyzing malfunctions, inspecting, removing, maintaining, and installing integrated avionics systems, performing and supervising avionics maintenance and general aircraft servicing and handling . Candidate shall be a former United States service member with C130H instrument & flight control maintenance experience. The SME shall participate in team, technical, and working group meetings as required; prepare and present briefings to the US Government as related to this effort; responsible to function within the RTN staff; provide inputs to WFF/WTA management; participate in the planning process and recommend improvement opportunities. Required Hours: Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be 6 days/week for 10 hrs/day while OCONUS and 40 hrs/week while CONUS Responsibilities: -Coordinate with USAF advisors -Develop products and train various AAF aircrew and leadership -Meet all timelines, milestones, schedules and administrative requirements -Timely problem identification and corrective action plans -Develop curriculum, train, advise, assist and mentor AAF squadron personnel as required in the establishment of and long term sustained management of AAF C130H Maintenance Squadron instrument & flight control processes -Train students to: -operate and maintain avionics systems -analyze equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in avionics systems, radar, integrated test systems built-in-test (BIT), multiplexed data buss systems, recording systems, fire control systems, video display systems, flight instrumental, mission computer systems, electro-optical viewing systems (EVS), inertial navigation systems (INS), primary and secondary flight controls, automatic flight control , engine instrumentation, fuel management systems, central air data systems -Remove, install, check, and repair avionics systems and line replaceable units (LRU) -Diagnose malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, integrated test systems and other test equipment -Remove, replace, and repair faulty system wiring, electrical connectors, antennas, transmission lines, and multiconductor cables -Modify avionics systems according to technical publications -Update operational logs, inspection records, aircraft forms, and automated maintenance systems -Perform and supervise alignment, calibration, and boresight of avionics systems -Upload ground maintenance and operational software -Perform off-equipment maintenance on selected avionics LRUs and maintains peculiar support equipment (SE) -Inspect and evaluate aircraft maintenance activities -Inspect and verify operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software -Record and ensure validity of entries into maintenance data collection and inspection systems -Resolve and assist units in solving maintenance and supply problems -Interpret and recommend corrective action to inspection findings -Plan, organize and direct aircraft maintenance activities -Establish methods and performance standards -Analyze reports and maintenance plans -Direct operation and modification of standard operating procedures -Establishes priorities -Evaluates activities for compliance with directives -Supervise and assist in aircraft ground servicing, and launch/recovery operations -Review maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends and production effectiveness Required Qualifications: -Two (2) years of specialized experience in a military or civilian aviation training environment -Knowledge of: interpreting and applying mechanical, wiring, and electronic circuit diagrams; electronic, micro-processor, data bus, and mechanical principles theory and application; theory of flight; gyros, synchros, indicators, memory storage devices, antennas, servomechanisms, electromechanical, electro-hydraulic, and electro-optical devices; radar, radio frequency communication, surveillance radar and interrogator systems, pulse Doppler radar theory, dependent navigation aids, inertial and radar navigation, electronic countermeasure transmitters and receivers; lasers, infrared/ultraviolet receivers; optics, automatic flight controls, instruments, multiplexing, fire control, video display, and digital computer systems working principles; subsystem tie-in between integrated avionics systems; using and interpreting testing and measuring devices; principles of motion and power transmission by fluid, mechanical and electrical means; and concepts and application of maintenance directives -Must be able to obtain an Interim DoD Secret security clearance prior to start -Strong analytical, writing skills -Strong MS Office Skills -Experience/sensitivity with diverse cultures -Strong interpersonal and organizational skills -Excellent management skills -Excellent problem solving skills and ability to timely implement new solutions -The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of USAF Squadron Operations -Valid US Passport with at least 1 year validity -Must be able to obtain an Afghan visa Physical Requirements/Working Environment: -Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain. -Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas. -Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location. -Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards. -Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day. -Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs. -Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders. -Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print. -Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. -Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions. -Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment. -The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region. Desired Qualifications -Currently or previously possess USAF specialty Code 2A573 Instrument & Flight Control with “T” prefix Overseas experience -Possess current DoD Secret security clearance -Previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in related field, and 4 years of related work experience.
