(AFG-KABUL) OJT Lead Trainer
Job Summary
The OJT* Lead Trainer* performs course instruction as directed by the Program Manager using the Instructional System Development (ISD) process; instruct technicians in a variety of areas to include but not limited to aircraft theory, aircraft repair operations maintenance, electronics / avionics and safety and computer applications; facilitates both classroom and hands on training for Afghan Air Force (AAF) personnel and act as a subject matter expert in the field of rotary wing aircraft maintenance; evaluate and document student progress and performance on OJT records.
Principal Accountabilities
- Maintain oversight on all aspects of the OJT program additionally; Supervise, monitor, and provides assignments to assigned OJT instructors.
- Coordinate with the maintenance shift leads, quality control technician supply personnel for the integration of training being conducted.
- Facilitate classroom and hands-on instruction for AAF personnel as directed by the Program Manager.
- Deliver training modules in the areas of aircraft maintenance and logistics management.
- Work with course development specialist to create a sound training curriculum that utilizes both formal instruction and on the job training.
- Perform as the subject matter expert on Mi-17 maintenance procedures and best practices for OJT trainers.
- Coach and correct performance issues for OJT instructors and trainees in order to facilitate learning.
- Perform administration functions in support of the AAF OJT program to include but not limited to documentation and maintenance of OJT records.
- Recommend personnel for upgrade to next skill level and or removal from OJT due to performance or attendance issues.
- Develop and support initiatives that continuously improve the performance quality of the customer and service of the Training Department
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance as required.
- Other qualified duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a National Agency Check Investigation (NAC-I)
- Federal Aviation Administration certificated Airframe and Power Plant (A/P). .
- Working knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelors’ degree, preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited instructor/teacher training course.
- Seven (7) or more years’ experience in Army MOS or Air Force Maintenance Specialty Code or equivalent civilian experience in aircraft or rotary wing maintenance.
- Recent experience within Afghanistan or with the Afghan culture preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in facilitating in classroom and on the job training for military or technical students.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Location of duty is Afghanistan.
- Living conditions may be cramped and substandard compared to western (US) standards.
- May be required to perform duties at remote and austere locations.
- Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments while working in field conditions.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 30 pounds to shoulder height.
- Must meet all medical and deployment requirements established by CENTCOM, ISAF and DynCorp International.
Travel
- 10 – 15%
- Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments will be required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Must have 4 years’ experience on Mi-17 aircraft.
Must have A&P; License or equivalency.
Must have OEM certification.
