Job*Summary*

Responsible for the overall monitoring of the quality control processes and procedures applicable to Mi-17, aircraft historical documents assigned to the Ministry of Defense AFM, and Ministry Of Interior, Counter Narco-terrorisms Global Support contracts, Kabul Afghanistan. The QC interpreter performs translation services on the contract for managers, logisticians, trainers, and supply specialists. In addition the QC Interpreter documents and files translated from Russian to English. The QC interpreter also ensures compliance directives and approved processes for aircraft maintenance and historical records keeping. This position is instrumental in the success of the overall program.

Principle Accountabilities

• Translate aircraft and parts specifications from Russian to English.


• Translate user guides and training manuals from Russian to English.


• Compile a database of translated documents for use on the program


• Post translations to an internet automated system.


• Design and create a library and repository for the documents.


• Lead the day to day activities of Interpreters of local languages.


• Exercise initiative and sound judgment in making decisions on acceptance of in-coming components and parts.


• Oversees the control of maintenance and historical documentation.


• Conduct receiving inspections on incoming aircraft, equipment, components, and parts, paying particular attention for discrepancies in historical documents and determine serviceability


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

• Fluent in conversational and technical Russian and English languages.


• Ability to execute at a fast pace to translate aircraft historical documents into English


• Ability to use Internet and Microsoft Applications


• Ability to Implement long-term objectives for Quality Control Department as directed by the Quality Control Manager


• Mi-17 experience is highly desirable


• Computer literate and well versed in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus


• Masters of Science in Linguistics with a focus in Russian language is desirable

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or GED is required


• Interpreter/ Translator certification


• Minimum of 5 yrs experience as a translator of documents in aircraft maintenance.


• The ability to read, write, and interpret technical data.


• Must be familiar with aircraft subsystems, components, associated equipment, and technical documentation systems

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to lift 40lbs.


• May be subjected to long periods of standing.

Travel

• Location of duty is Afghanistan.


• Living conditions may be cramped and substandard compared to western (US) standards.


• May be required to perform duties at remote, austere locations.
