Background


EQUALITY for Peace and Democracy (EPD) established by a team of Afghans, who believe in equal rights and inclusiveness, is a professional, non-governmental and non-profit organization with a vision to transform Afghanistan into a peaceful, prosperous and democratic nation where all Afghans enjoy equal rights without any form of discrimination. EPD’s mission is to empower and strengthen civil society organizations, associations and networks at the community and policy level to initiate and implement holistic solutions for vibrant development of the country towards peace and democracy.


EPD is aiming at massive mobilization of women and youth as agents of change in the areas of peace and reintegration and good governance through partnering with community based as well as policy based civil society organizations and networks. EPD is providing the platform for women and youth organizations and groups to work together and develop and achieve joint objectives.


The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:


Duties & Responsibilities:


· Undertake literature and desk reviews in preparation for research projects.


· Provide support in consulting with stakeholders from academic, government and civil society in


· Peroration for research projects to inform the methodology and approach.


· Provide support in identifying appreciate research tools and methods and drafting research plans, methodology and tools.


· Support research unit staff on data collection and analysis.


· Assist In the preparation of papers, research report concept notes, and project proposals as well as


· Other products that will facilitate EPD’s work.


· Undertake proofreading and editing of EPD documents, reports and presentations.


· Writs project success stories from the field.


· Finalize and maintain EPD’s website.


· Review donor files and make sure they are updated and all related are documented printed and filed.


· Write EPD’s bio-annual newsletter.


· Collect information and write donors report under supervision of the deputy director.


· Assist in preparation for distribution and launching of publications and reports.


· Any other duties assigned by line Manager


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree or higher in sociology, political science, development studies, peace and conflict studies, or other relevant field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.


Excellent English language skills (spoken, reading, writing). Outstanding grammar and research skills are essential.


Knowledge and understanding of one or both local languages (Dari/Pashtu) will be an asset.


Minimum of 1 years’ experience in research, proposal writing and//or Project M&E


Knowledge of and interest in Afghanistan and the ability to understand cultural


Sensitivities.


Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.


Outstanding communication skills, particularly the ability to write emotive and compelling stories


Ability to simultaneously balance multiple assignments with strict deadlines.


Self-motivated, highly creative, with a strong ability to work both in a team setting and independently.


Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point


Skills in Photoshop/InDesign an asset
