(AFG) Laundry Technician


Job Title Laundry Technician


Job Description Under direct supervision, performs laundry services such as cleaning of rags, wiping cloths, linens, filter cloths, bags, sacks, and work clothes. Sorts and folds laundry as required. Maintains and cleans equipment as required.


May supervise subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.


On-site interviewing for this position will take place in the Balkan region. Candidates must be available to interview at the aforementioned location, and must posses the ability to read, write and speak fluent English to be considered.


Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 25 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand) or have a translator available.


Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1 year of directly related experience is required.


Other Job Requirements Physically, the worker must be capable of exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Intellectually the worker must be able to apply and interpret principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must have basic competencies mathematics. The worker must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of laundry tools and equipment.


Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
