ET- II Air Traffic Control (ATC) Communications Technician - Lockheed Martin - Sumter, SC

This position is defined as Strategic Review – Aligned to IS&GS. Lockheed Martin is looking to staff the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) contract for the Provision of ATM and Communications, Navigation and Surveillance maintenance services in Support of Coalition Forces in KANDAHAR, Afghanistan. The Services are to be provided based on an initial confirmed requirement at Kandahar Airfield and is intended to provide a long term contract. The contract requires providing air traffic management and electronic equipment maintenance services to support air traffic control (ATC) operations, airfield management (AFM) operations, air to ground communications operations and maintenance, surveillance and precision radar systems operations and maintenance, voice communications systems operations and maintenance, aviation C2 and aviation weather systems operations and maintenance at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan. Lockheed Martin IS&GS Technical Services is looking for an Electronics Technician II – ATC Communications, to maintain air traffic control radio and voice communication switching systems at Kandahar, Afghanistan. Typical duties include: Performing preventive maintenance on ATC radio systems and related equipment; Inspecting equipment at specified intervals; replacing defective parts; performing operational checks; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; and Independently verify operational condition of Control Tower Facilities and integrated system to be within prescribed parameters IAW supporting Technical Orders/Manuals or directives. This position is contingent upon the ATM NATO contract award and upon the candidate completing the International Readiness Certifications process.

Basic Qualifications

US citizen with a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance (selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information). Candidate must also have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in electronics repair, maintenance and testing of ATC Communications systems. Must be a graduate of a high school or a trade school & possess valid US driver’s license with photo. This position requires a valid DoD secret security clearance. This position requires a NATO secret security clearance immediately after hire.


Desired skills

At least five (3) years experience with the following: Performing preventive maintenance on ATC radio systems and related equipment (CM-200 Ground to Air Radio, ETVS (BS2) Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch, Liberty Star Voice Switch, PL 2000 DT, and AN/TPN-19 radio equipment (GRC-171 and GRC 211), GRR-23/24, GRT 21/22, PRC-117, RT-1319, TRC-176, and URC-200); inspecting equipment at specified intervals; determining operational status; replacing defective components; performing operational checks; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; independently verifies operational condition of Control Tower Facilities and integrated system to be within prescribed parameters IAW supporting Technical Orders/Manuals or directive (commercial manuals, FAA Orders, etc.)
