(AFG) Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) Freedom of Maneuver (FoM) Instructor


JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, Instructors will instruct Freedom of Maneuver (FoM) tactics in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) threat environment and Counter-IED (C-IED) training specific to Afghanistan. Training may be conducted at one static location, or Instructors may be required to travel to temporary training locations throughout Afghanistan. WORK HOURS: Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites. JOB DUTIES: ANDSF FoM Instructor will ensure that training objectives are completed on time following established training curriculum and schedules; conduct daily training and actively assist or provide direction to students as required. Instructor will be required to execute the content of ANDSF FoM courses, to include administration, scheduling, and quality assurance and control. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Provide all ANDSF FoM course instruction as directed. Coordinate with and assist ANDSF as they prepare for scheduled training and cross training as required. Assist the ANDSF in working with the supported units and subcontractors to identify, design and manage the ANDSF FoM training requirements as required. Participate in post-course evaluations. Participate in continual improvement process. Assist the ANDSF in the development of FoM training curriculum and development of training scenarios in accordance with the approved curriculum as required. Assist the ANDSF in creating, maintaining and delivering all required reports as required. Provide post-training assessments of student performance and present feedback during After Action Reviews (AAR) the conclusion of training. Assist the ANDSF with supervision, administration, and support of students and ANDSF candidate instructors as required Utilize Train the Trainer (T3) techniques. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree & four (4) years of related experience, OR two (2) years related experience with Master’s degree. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (12 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement • Prior military, with service pay grade of Non-commissioned Officer or above AND at least 4 years’ operational IEDD experience in Mine Roller, R2C2/Route Clearance, CIED Operations or Combat Engineering (MOS 89D/21B/1371). • Qualified as defined by NATO STANAG 2991. • Qualified trainer/operator with experience training and conducting operations in the Middle East and/or host nation. • Previous experience in teaching C-IED awareness training. • Sufficient knowledge of current counter-IED operations in Iraq and Afghanistan area of operations to provide relevant and responsive advice and recommendations. • Detailed knowledge of training processes to counter IEDs to include operational/tactical and staff/leadership programs. • Knowledge of technological means to counter IEDs. • Knowledge and experience in counter terrorist search techniques. • Willingness to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government to include hostile areas. • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance PRIOR to start and maintain throughout contract. • Valid US Passport with at least 1 year validity and ability to obtain & maintain Afghan visa. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • Include, but are not limited to, the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs. per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain. • Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas. • Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location. • Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards. • Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment as required. In the conduct of their training contractors may encounter hostile forces. • Ability to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day; routinely climb / descend stairs; routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders; read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print; and communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. • Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions. • Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment. • The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Recent deployment (within the past five years) as an EOD Team Leader in Afghanistan or Iraq. • Recent experience (within the past three years) training local Afghan or Iraqi nationals. • Combat experience with any of the following; Mine Roller, R2C2/Route Clearance, CIED Operations or combat engineering. • Active US DoD Secret security clearance • Previous experience teaching CIED/RCC in Iraq and Afghanistan. • Involvement with Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) forces on deployed operations. • Involvement with training Afghanistan military forces. • Conversant with Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel • A thorough understanding of US and coalition military organizations, roles and missions. • Curriculum development experience, specifically in continual improvement efforts to determine the efficacy of unit training programs and organizational training principles and practices. • Incorporation of Lessons Learned and TTP’s. • Experience working with IED-D TADSS, and a practical working knowledge of IED-D and Counter IED organization and doctrine is preferred. 81056
