(AFG-KABUL) Senior Advisor Director Family Response Unit
Job Summary
Assists the Senior Advisor to the Director General Afghanistan Anti-Crime Police with Train, Advise and Assist (TAA) of the Directorate for Family Response Unit (FRU) police. Provides daily strategic and operational counsel and advice on behalf of the Resolute Support (RS) Commander and Deputy Advisor Mol. Coordinates as required with international embassies, multi-governmental entities, non-governmental organizations, and bilateral efforts to build, develop, and professionalize the Minister of Interior and Deputy Ministers.
Principal Accountabilities
- Advise and provide security and police consultation to the Minister of Interior’s deputies on the organization, function, and professional development of the Directorate for Family Response Unit police and its mission requirements including ministerial, administration and support entities.
- Manage and supervise assigned Special Staff advisors and translators as required.
- Facilitate coalition engagements with Minister of Interior Deputies as required.
- Coordinate as required with RS staff and command elements to resolve issues and concerns raised by Afghan principals.
- Provide operational, strategic, and institutional advice and counsel regarding development of essential functions; provides organizational law enforcement and security consultation on the functioning and professional development of the Directorate of FRU and its police officers.
- Travel throughout Afghanistan as required in support of Afghan principals.
- Provide advice on conducting a training needs analysis to assess current training and determine future training requirements for FRU police.
- Provide advice on determining and accessing budgetary and resource requirements and advise on budget management processes.
- Provide advice on professionalizing the overarching and regional management and conduct of the FRUs from a strategic, operational and tactical perspective.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Previous experience in management
- Previous experience in Law Enforcement, organizational design or related field.
Experience & Education
- Previous experience in management.
- Previous experience in Law Enforcement, organizational design or related field.
- Law Enforcement experience in domestic violence prevention or investigation or similar related fields
- At least ten years of practical policing experience. Familiarity working with ANP police women preferred.
- Advanced Diploma, Associates Degree or Degree in a relevant field of study.
- Must have a final (not interim) SECRET Level Security DoD Clearance before deployment and must maintain that clearance.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy
- Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
