Afghanistan: Outreach and reporting advisors



Chemonics seeks short and long-term outreach and reporting advisors for the USAID Regional Agricultural Development Program – South (RADP-S) project in Afghanistan. The outreach and reporting advisors will support the field office communications and outreach team and the component teams in the implementation of RADP-S activities through report development and outreach management. Working with the field team, the positions will be responsible for ensuring quality control of project reports and deliverables to USAID, the Ministry of Agricultural Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), and other entities as required. The outreach and reporting advisors will oversee and assist in report writing and editing duties associated with project contract deliverables as well as writing and editing technical reports and success stories. The position is based in Kabul, Afghanistan with potential travel to Kandahar. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.


Responsibilities include:


  • Assist in the development, writing, layout, and submission of reports and deliverables including:

  • Periodic status reports, which detail brief highlights of achievements across components and will be shared within the U.S. government community, other donors, and Afghan counterparts to highlight progress and milestones

  • Monthly report and quarterly reports summarizing ongoing program information, results and progress toward accomplishment of the established benchmarks

  • Identify and write USAID/RADP-S project success stories

  • Work with the home-office project management unit and field office staff to produce content, narratives, and storylines for video deliverables that demonstrate RADP-S successes

  • Coordinate and implement an outreach strategy with the RADP-S Production and Productivity Unit, the Value Chain Facilitation Unit, and the Gender Unit that reinforces new agricultural techniques and technologies and businesses practices for beneficiary and non-beneficiary farmers and businesses in RADP-S target districts

  • Manage contractual deliverables and monitor the timely and effective implementation of outreach activities with radio stations in all four provinces, script writing and recording production companies, and mobile theatre companies

  • Coordinate gender-sensitive outreach activities in secure and appropriate locations for women and girls engaged in agriculture

  • Ensure accurate and timely information dissemination of RADP-S technical content in a manner consumable to largely illiterate farming communities

  • In coordination with the Value Chain Facilitation Unit, advise agribusinesses on a radio promotional strategy to promote their businesses, reach a larger audience, and increase sales

  • Mentor and provide continued training and capacity building to local professional communications and outreach staff

  • Meet with USAID, project stakeholders, and beneficiaries to discuss and convey project activities and successes as required

  • Perform any other appropriate tasks that support the overall project, as assigned by the supervisor or his/her designee

Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of Chemonics and USAID practices, policies, and regulations regarding communications and reporting

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, from high government officials to community members

  • Successful experience designing and implementing organizational communications and outreach strategies

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, from high government officials to community members

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Afghanistan or other high-context culture experience preferred but not required

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
