Associate Research Scholar/Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination - Princeton University - Princeton, NJ
The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination seeks an associate research scholar with at least ten years demonstrated interest and experience in research and writing on Islamic studies, specifically in the Iranian-Azerbaijani-Afghan-Pakistani region, to join an ongoing research program on Afghanistan and the broader regional dynamics. This 12 month position, starting in July 2016, would be part of an ongoing research effort in the Institute’s Projects on State, Sovereignty and Self-Determination; Afghanistan and the Region; and Religion, Diplomacy and International relations (PORDIR). We are particularly interested in individuals who are involved in exploring the interlacing of religious perception and political outlook in traditional Muslim civilizations, with modern implications. The salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience. The program is open to all regardless of citizenship, but it does not support work toward the completion of a degree. Salaries are negotiable. Associate Research Scholars are researchers who received a PhD or equivalent degree more than three years ago, and will not be employed at another institution during their stay at Princeton. Applicants must apply online and submit a cover letter and CV. This position is subject to the University’s background check policy. For further details about this position, please contact Trisha Barney, Institute Manager, Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination, Email: tbarney@princeton.edu.
