Job Description Under direct supervision, supports the Air Operations team within assigned area of responsibility. Performs a variety of functional tasks as necessary to achieve operational objectives. Reviews and compiles operational data or information; prepares and distributes travel reports; maintains proprietary data as necessary for analysis, planning, and reporting purposes. Confers with manager/supervisors and site personnel to obtain data required for planning activities, such as pending employee travel requests, cargo movements, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
Assigned daily tasks regarding the movement of personnel inter-theater as well as intra-theater. Provides input on the development and implementation of organization policies, practices, procedures as requested. Performs numerous tasks that involve, but are not limited to, project operational strategies and activities. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of product or services to management.
May supervise a team of subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.
All MHE – Cargo Specialist must be able to operate 3K & 4K forklifts, while loading equipment on aircraft. Must be able to perform and operates routine preventive maintenance. Plans, schedules and processes eligible passengers and cargo for air movement on helicopters. Ensures all cargo documentation, packaging, labeling and marking requirements have been met. Determines quantity and type of cargo to be loaded according to allowable aircraft load. Selects, assembles, palletizes, and transports cargo loads to and from aircraft and storage areas. Checks cargo against manifests and annotates shipment overages, shortages, or damages. Secures cargo with appropriate restraint equipment. Experience in functions such as processing cargo, loading and unloading aircraft; operating automated or manual materials handling and other loading equipment; processing and loading; performing aircraft fleet services functions; rigging aerial delivery cargo; or processing, scheduling, and maintaining records relating to passenger and cargo movement.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 25 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.
Basic Job Requirements High school diploma with some college coursework preferred and a minimum of 3 years experience in related field. Position may require a security clearance.
Other Job Requirements Excellent communication and leadership skills. Excellent computer skills with various scheduling programs, MS Office Suite, and various databases. Ability to work outside for extended periods of time in extreme heat or cold. Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required. Must be able to load luggage and cargo and assist passengers.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
