(AFG-KANDAHAR) HR Supervisor


Job Summary


Performs highly responsible professional level human resources work. Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising one or more human resources functions. The Supervisor will motivate and attract proficient team members and establish the best practices for this organization regarding consolidated HR activities.


Principal Accountabilities


(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)


  • Supervises the application of established human resources policies in employee relations, wage and salary administration, employment, benefits administration, training, labor relations, safety, and special projects

  • Assists in the administration of department activities, providing technical direction in functional areas of expertise.

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of a group of employees.

  • Assigns, monitors and reviews progress and accuracy of work, directs efforts and provides technical guidance on more complex issues.

  • Prepares recommendations to upper management concerning human resources issues and concerns.

  • Supervises the preparation of reports (as required by legislation or organization needs) and research in the development of human resources policies and procedures.

  • Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies.

  • Serves as liaison with the community or other outside agencies with regard to human resources activities and programs.

  • Serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.

  • Manages assigned staff, which includes making employment (hire/termination/salary adjustment) decisions, reviewing employee performance, addressing escalated issues, setting priorities, distributing work, and creating professional development opportunities.

  • Position may be assigned to a specific targeted business area and may require additional or specific job duties related to assigned function which are not aforementioned.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Advanced knowledge of Human Resources functions.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and supervise others.

  • Experience working in a customer oriented professional environment.

  • Proven organization skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining timeliness and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals while working under limited supervision.

  • Must be able to handle confidential information and exercise discretionary judgment.

  • General computer skills, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint and HRMS.

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishments in applying HR concepts to difficult and complex assignments.

Experience & Education


  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in Human Resources environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field. Two (2) years’ experience in human resources may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions.

  • If traveling OCONUS, possibly requires working in a hot climate in potentially austere conditions that could be remote and uncomfortable.

  • Depending on assignment, personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Travel


  • Considerable travel may be required, depending on the position or contract assignment, including CONUS and OCONUS. Some international travel may be to hazardous locations as required

Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
