About Oracle’s Injured Veteran Intern Program:
At Oracle, we are committed to the development and
professional growth of injured veterans. Our paid internship program is
specifically designed to aid injured veterans of the Iraq and/or Afghanistan
campaigns in their transition to careers in the corporate, private or public
sector.
Injured veterans accepted into our program will work
closely with corporate leadership, military veteran coaches and HR
professionals to help prepare for a successful transition. Interns will engage
in on-the-job training and professional development in fields such as
information technology, technical/systems consulting, technical support,
facilities, finance, human resources, logistics, marketing, sales or
developmental training in sales or for customer support.
Oracle is looking for a transitioning veteran with STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills and/or aptitude for a unique
internship position at its Morrisville, NC location within the Lab Services
department. The transitioning veteran will work within a team and have
mentoring from experienced military veterans and personalized training to
enhance the technical skills of the veteran. This is a year-long paid
internship.
About the System
Administrator Intern Position:
The Morrisville Research & Development Lab Support
team is responsible for the administration, installation, maintenance, and
disaster recovery of the datacenter labs at the Morrisville, NC location.
The
Intern
will
work
within the Morrisville labs team
to
provide
hands–on
system & network administration in the local
labs. As the intern, you will have the opportunity to
participate in the planning and execution of location-wide projects.
Responsibilities:
1.
Aid
in basic system administration and other administrative tasks (such as
documentation).
2.
Maintenance and
support of critical infrastructure and software, such as source code
environments, system-wide backups and disaster recovery, authentication issues,
network administration, and private lab environments
3.
System
administration and lab infrastructure support tasks as determined by ticketing
system
The
Candidate
will
get
experience
with
the
latest
in
various operating systems,
virtualization & cloud technologies, automated configuration management
technologies, networking technologies, and disaster recovery policies and
procedures.
Preferred Education
and Experience:
·
BS in Computer Science or
related field preferred
·
2-4 years of related experience in a medium to large
network distributed and computing environment a plus
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities:
·
A passion for learning multiple disciplinary
computer and networking technologies
·
Technical
problem
solving
capabilities
and
the
ability
to
communicate
effectively
in
a
team
environment
·
Ability to work with personal computers (Linux /
Windows) including word processors, spreadsheets, PuTTy, and
the basics of computer
hardware
·
A basic understanding of the Linux operating
system, including operation of SSH, Telnet, FTP, and general
shell functions (ps, df, cp, cd, scp,
etc.).
·
A fundamental understanding of networking (IP
addressing)
Additional Information:
Candidate must be a US Military
Veteran transitioning from the service or not-yet exposed to the corporate
environment. Must have a passion for learning, strong critical thinking &
problem-solving skills, strong work ethic, and high
integrity.

Preferred Candidate
is able to work
full-time
(40
hours/week) for the full year
·
Ability
to do shift and weekend work (as needed)
·
Hourly wage is $25 per hour
·
The ideal Candidate should be available to start
work in June 2016
