Associate Project Manager, CB/BEP - CRDF Global - Arlington, VA

The Capacity Building division of CRDF Global seeks an Associate Project Manager (APM) to support and manage U.S. government funded projects in Iraq and South Asia (mainly Afghanistan and Pakistan). The APM will be responsible for the implementation of technical, financial and administrative aspects of an assigned portfolio. The APM carries out a broad range of support functions, to include: developing project announcements, shepherding proposal applications through external review, serving as the backup point of contact for grantees and international partner organizations, overseeing the process of project closure, supporting training and institutional development of overseas partners, possibly travelling domestically and internationally and contributing towards other program activities.

Major Responsibilities


Work closely with the CRDF Global team members and the funder (U.S. Department of State)


Assist with development and manage a portfolio of Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) projects (including, but not limited to conferences, trainings, workshops, fellowship grants, etc.


Manage tracking of applications for travel grants in close coordination with the funder


Manage, monitor and close out projects, including budget development and tracking


Coordinate planning and implementation of the logistical support for international conferences, workshops, seminars, training and other activities


Develop and negotiate consultant scopes of work and budgets, contract with and manage performance of the scientific/technical collaborators and other experts


Reconcile expenses of contractors and grantees


Complete projects on time, on budget and in compliance with the quality requirements and funder objectives


Draft reports for clients, including analysis of individual project stakeholder evaluations


Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required


Support other programs and staff as required


Qualifications


2-3 years of relevant work experience with experience in project management or office administration preferred


1-2 years of experience in an international organization or other international experience


Demonstrated project management skills


Understanding of scientific research processes is desirable


Effective written and oral communication skills


Proven editing and proof-reading skills


Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines


Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to work with and maintain advanced databases


Familiarity with U.S. Department of State funding, Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction preferred


Flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to thrive in a multicultural, fast-paced environment


Demonstrated customer service, client support, diplomacy and negotiation skills


Relevant foreign language proficiency is a plus


U.S. work authorization is required
