Description:
The Initiative for Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition ( IHSAN ) is a five – year project whose goal is to assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan ( GIRoA ) , civil society organizations ( CSOs ) , and the private sector to carry out and scale up evidence – based nutrition and water, hygiene, and sanitation ( WASH ) interventions that will improve the nutritional status of women and children less than five years old . Specific project objectives include enhancing capacity to institutionalize nutrition programs, increasing adoption of optimal nutrition and hygiene behaviors at community and household levels; and increasing availability of nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation services and products increased . The project will focus on the 10 provinces with poorest nutritional indicators based on the 2014 national nutrition assessment . Recognizing that significant variations in health situations exist between districts and sub – districts in each province, we will promote improved nutrient intake and awareness and improved sanitation and hygiene practices by working with provincial health authorities and communities to strive toward improved coverage in priority areas .
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
TheWASH/Nutrition Officerwill be an FHI 360 employee working and placed at the IHSAN office in Kabul . S/hewill assist the WASH / Nutrition Director and technical specialists with logistical and operational issues to facilitate implementation of WASH and Nutrition activities .
The responsibilities of the position include:
Provides support to program management such as troubleshooting, updates work plans,coordinates travel arrangements and monitors program activities.
Coordinates technical visits, travel authorizations, expense reports, and contract agreements tosupport implementation of country programs.
Maintains databases, web pages, and data integrity and security according to quality standardsand company policy.
May provide administrative support to programs as needed by writing, reviewing, andtranslating reports on a quarterly basis.
Performs day-to-day routines independently with own initiative.
Prepares documents, reports and briefing materials for consultants, staff and clients.
Performs entry level technical program related tasks when assigned.
Ensures documentation and reports are tracked regularly and adhere to country and regionalstandards.
Contributes to work plans for one or many programs.
Serves as the liaison for internal units, such as finance, contracts, security, HR etc.
Collects and verifies data, summarizes and reconciles information.
Assists WASH/Nutrition team staff with requests from partner offices and other staff members.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience and Qualifications :
Degree in Business Administration, Education, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development or related Field.
1-3 years of program officer experience, preferably in the area of health.
Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dari; Pashto fluency is highly desired.
Prior experience in a non-governmental organization(NGO)preferred.
Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with providing program support for nutrition/WASH activities/projects.
Excellent organizational and attention to detail needed to adhere to project deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.
Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.
