(AFG) Facilities Technician - Water Purification (DIFZ)

Job Summary

The Facilities Technician – Water Purification (DIFZ) operates, maintains, and repairs, R.O. Reverse Osmosis system, ROPU, and related equipment items, filter media and membrane replacement. Carries out all duties in accordance with DynCorp ISO 9001 Quality and Safety Standards in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau for Diplomatic Security (DS), under oversight from the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) in AFGHANISTAN.

Principal Accountabilities

• 
  

  Regularly inspects properties for safety and maintenance problems; makes recommendations on replacement versus repair, necessity of upgrading facilities, and cost of such supplies and equipments

  
  


• 
  

  Maintains policies and procedures, reviews and evaluates current maintenance program performance

  
  


• 
  

  Will act on behalf of the Facilities Manager as the Single Point-of-Contact for all issues & problems associated with Water treatment at the Forward Operating Bases

  
  


• 
  

  Will ensure the management system(s) such as a Work Order, Preventative Maintenance/Inspections, Projected Labor hours & Inventory; are being utilized

  
  


• 
  

  Accountable of keeping company goals and objectives aligned with the best interest of the US Government at all times

  
  


• 
  

  Ensures all DynCorp employees are performing their functions in safe and adequate manner with concern to water treatment to meet our contractual & operational obligations

  
  


• 
  

  Prioritize workload; follow-up on assignments; to direct and perform quality maintenance (Water Treatment operations) in a cost-effective manner

  
  


• 
  

  Performs other duties as directed by Facilities Manager and Site Management

  
  

Knowledge & Skills

• 
  

  Military/commercial equivalent of five plus years working in the field of Water Treatment (OJT) On the Job Training accepted as long as the time is verifiable

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of facility requirements in support of F.O.Bs and Camp sized maintenance and operations

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of general construction requirements and procedures

  
  


• 
  

  A general knowledge of OHSA requirements for construction and facilities

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to read and understand technical data, plans/blueprints and publications pertaining to R.O. systems

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to qualify and operate Material Handling Equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Passport and Visa before assignment, this includes renewal and additional pages for passport if applicable

  
  


• 
  

  Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of State (DOS) Security Clearance is a condition of employment

  
  

Experience & Education

• Five (5) years of Military or civilian experience in the field of Water Treatment and purification practices, Commercial R.O. systems, and related equipment items
  
  High school diploma or equivalent is required

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• 
  

  Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to six hours per day and sit for up to two hours per day

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders

  
  


• 
  

  May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds

  
  


• 
  

  May be required to lift up to 35 pounds to height of four feet and be required to lift up to 35 pounds to height of 7 feet

  May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools. Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print

  Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sounds

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to distinguish color and judge three dimensional depths

  May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.

  Must have minimum 20/100 near and far vision, correctable to 20/20

  
  


• 
  

  Must not have physical restrictions or existing medical conditions that may prevent them from serving in a remote area with limited medical care

  
  


• 
  

  Be able to travel to and between remote location(s)

  Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments may be required

  Ability to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure may be required

  May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft

  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts

  
  

Travel

May be required to travel occasionally to remote locations to accommodate the mission
