Job Summary

The Mechanic, Aircraft RW services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.

Principal Accountabilities

• Read and interpret manufacturers’ and maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.


• Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing oil systems, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts and checking brakes.


• Must be able to become qualified and perform engine runs for the aircraft type they are assigned to support.


• Perform other duties as assigned

*Knowledge & Skills *

• FAA Airframe & Power Plant license is required.


• CMF 15 aviation MOS series or other military/commercial equivalent. Must possess a current US passport or the ability to obtain one before assignment.


• The ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) through Department of State Background Investigation is a condition of employment. A current MRPT is desired.

Experience & Education

• Five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Air Frame & Power Plant aircraft mechanic experience.


• Must possess knowledge of aircraft sub-systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operation, limitations, and technical orders.


• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.


• Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.


• Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.


• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.


• May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.


• Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.


• Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.


• Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.


• May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.


• Must be capable of living and working in a potentially hostile environment for an extended period.


• May be required to travel to and between remote location(s) in austere environments.


• May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.


• May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.


• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.

Travel

• Travel to and between CONUS and OCONUS locations is required.

Job Summary

Cultural Liaison/ Governance Rule of Law Support Advisor shall act as a liaison between the Afghanistan National Defense Security Force (ANDSF) and the Coalition’s Resolute Support Mission (RSM) to develop a capable and enduring ANDSF

Principal Accountabilities

• Develop relationships with senior ANDSF leaders.


• Coordinate activities between RSM and ANDSF teams.


• Conduct independent liaison with ANDSF offices and officials as required for assigned projects.


• Prepare and transmit all required correspondence for Key Leader Engagements with the ANDSF.


• Responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements, laws, policies, regulations, notes, etc. from one language to another to facilitate effective communication between Coalition and ANDSF General Officer leadership.


• Directly support the Coalition staff with strategic level policy generating products that directly support the train, advise and assist effort for ANDSF rule of law.


• Without the aid of a linguist or translator, provide multi-echelon rule of law mentoring to the ANDSF relating to planning and executing strategic initiatives that build enduring capability within the ANDSF with direct engagements that range from daily to infrequent contact.


• Provide direct oversight of the translation of strategic level sustainment correspondence between Coalition and the ANDSF to ensure consistent and accurate messaging between the organizations

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to effectively create & communicate the results of legal research and policies to sponsoring senior Coalition and ANDSF officials through written reports, briefings, and oral presentations.


• Capability to be effective in a complex strategic environment through influence and interaction. Strong analytical and persuasive communication skills.


• Automated data processing knowledge: possess working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics presentation, E-mail clients, and web browsers.


• Fluency in written and spoken Dari and English. Fluency in Pashto is also desirable

Experience & Education

• Masters’ degree with 6 years’ or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience supporting, working with or working within military organizations.


• Understanding of and experience with Afghan laws, policies, and regulations as well as the Afghan legal system and the ANDSF organizations or experience working at a strategic level within a military or civilian equivalent technical field.


• Fluency in written and spoken Dari and English. Fluency in Pashto is also desirable


• Must have a final (not interim) SECRET Level Security DoD Clearance before deployment and must maintain that clearance

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy


• Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan

GENERAL FUNCTION

Internews is seeking an experienced journalist and media development professional to support the implementation of the media strategy for the USAID/IOM Combatting Human Trafficking in Afghanistan project. Under this project, Internews will work with local media partners to raise public awareness and build skills and capacity to report on issues relating to trafficking in persons in Afghanistan.

The Resident Journalism Advisor (RJA) will be responsible for: developing training materials on media reporting around trafficking in persons and providing training and mentoring to in-house staff and reporters of Internews key partners Salam Watandar Radio Network and Pajhwok Afghan News. He/she will work with these partners to build their capacity and enhance the production of high quality, relevant and effective media productions. The RJA will report to the Internews Country Director in Afghanistan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop tailor-made training materials for journalists and reporters, editors, producers, and other newsroom staff of local partner organizations Salam Watandar and Pajhwok Afghan News;


• Plan, coordinate and lead training with the two partner organizations to increase the quality of content production and create new programming, including radio drama;


• Provide mentoring to staff of the two partner organizations to develop content and produce high quality programming;


• Support and facilitate the establishment of relationships between media/journalists and networks/organizations working on combating human trafficking in Afghanistan;


• Develop and maintain keen understanding of trafficking related issues affecting the Afghan community, including security and political factors;


• Draft, review and provide input to monthly, quarterly, annual and close-out reports, as required;


• Support Internews’ communication efforts to promote and publicize project activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience managing projects funded by US and/or European agencies or international organizations in complex development environments;
