(AFG-Bagram) Certified Welding Inspector


Inspectors will be certified lAW one or more of the following:


• Certified in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), qualified and certified in accordance with provisions of AWS QC1, Standard for AWS Certified Welding Inspector; or

• Welding inspectors qualified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) to Level II or the Level III requirements of the Canadian Standards Association Standard W 178.2 Certification of Welding Inspectors; or

• AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector under Ihe supervision of a CWI or a CWB Level III; or

• A welding inspector certification program that is substantially the same as offered by AWS or CWB. In this case, the inspector certification program must be reviewed and approved by a government CWI or equivalent Quality Assurance representative prior to approval; or

• Inspection performed by a Welding Engineer or technician who is competent in the use of weld inspection techniques and equipment, on the basis of formal training, experience, or both, in metals fabrication, inspection, and testing. In this case, the rules that apply for experience as specified for CWI’s will apply.

• Experienced welder (i.e., MIG, TIG, ARC, etc.) with AWS D1.1 certified.

• Have institutional knowledge of electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic skills acquired through years of direct military or commercial support to maintain U.S. proprietary low-density systems.

• Supervises welding on ballistic hulls and metals, read blueprints and associated installation instructions, and inspect assembly within specified tolerances.

• Proficient in flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes.

• Provides design details and recommends modifications to engineering designs as needed.

• Prepare instructional guides for repairing, calibrating, and maintaining equipment and systems.

• Writes and prepares specific weld repair processes and prepare reports based on criteria.

• Inspects welds in accordance with AWS D.1.1 specific codes.

• Trains in accordance with AWS D.1.1 specific codes.


Requirements:


  • 10+ years welding experience and 5+ years as a Certified Welder

  • Travel to hostile areas is required Must be able to meet all government CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements for foreign travel into operational locations.

  • Candidates must be in top physical shape, meeting the government deployment requirements.

  • Position requires moderate to lengthy travel to various US or OCONUS locations.

    • Position requires moderate to lengthy travel to various US or OCONUS locations. We seek flexibility and willingness to deploy to all/any of these locations, including Southwest Asia, Africa and South Central Asia. Some OCONUS deployments may be hostile (“war zone”) environments.

    • Proven communicator in verbal and written disciplines to include basic computer skills and document preparation.

    • Ability to provide formal, over the shoulder, and on the spot training to contractor and unit personnel.

    • Pre-Employment Drug Screening

    • Insurable Driver’s License required

Must be able to obtain a Visa for DEPLOYMENT.
