OXUS Consulting Group seeks a Senior Analyst for an Afghanistan Media Monitoring Program funded by the U.S. government.

Program Overview :
The U.S. Government seeks a media monitoring company with experience in analyzing news stories centering on the U.S. diplomatic, military, and civilian mission in Afghanistan. Through its own resources, the company should be able to provide 24/7/365 near-real-time, human- selected alerts of breaking news, daily international news summaries and daily Afghan news summaries culled from Dari/Pashto sources.

Monitoring, analyzing, and assessing the international and Afghan media landscape is critical to the mission of the U.S. Government. This program is intended to supplement current media gathering efforts through several products including breaking news alerts, media summaries and analysis and monitoring of Afghan media in native languages.

Senior Analyst Requirements:
Seeking a dynamic and strong Senior Analyst to scan major Afghan media outlets, select significant news events for analysis and help build daily briefings. The project will provide real time, near real time news and associated analysis to a critical U. S. Government Customer on a 24/7/365 day basis. *Required to work from Kabul, Afghanistan.
The successful candidate will have:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a journalist, political analyst, media monitor, or equivalent.


• BA in journalism, political science, international relations or similar fields required. MA preferable.


• Bilingual in English and Dari/Pashto


• Command of English language: Ability to write and edit English-language reports.


• Command of Dari and/or Pashto languages: Ability to read and understand the language(s) at near-native level.


• Knowledge of, and working experience with, diplomatic and military issues as they relate to U.S. diplomatic and military mission in Afghanistan.


• Managerial/supervisory experience preferable: Ability to act as shift supervisor.


• Ability to work under pressure meeting hard deadline set by the client.
