Mechanical Technician II – Power Production (GENSET) Technician - Lockheed Martin - Sumter, SC
Basic Qualifications
US citizen with a DoD Secret security clearance (selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information). Must be a graduate of a high school or a trade school & possess valid US driver’s license with photo. Minimum of four (4) years of “hands on” work experience in support of installations, repair, troubleshooting or maintenance of mechanical systems or mechanical equipment that may involve training and assisting lower level technicians. Must have the technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of mechanical systems or mechanical equipment. Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience installing, removing, and operating electrical power generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches, and associated equipment; interpreting ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges; adjusting generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency, and synchronization; synchronizing of multi-generators; operating voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls on switchgear and distribution panels; maintaining inspection and maintenance records. In addition, the technician should have experience with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) operation and maintenance as a backup to the primary HVAC/R technician. Uses advanced knowledge to analyze system failures and other unusual system occurrences to isolate the source of the problem and determine failure causes. Typical power generation equipment supported may include MEP 5/TQG-805 for TPN-19 and MSN-7, MEP 6/TQG-806, MEP 16 for the TRN-26. This position requires a valid DoD secret security clearance and a NATO secret security clearance immediately after hire.
Desired skills
Experience in operating, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical power systems, generators, power panels, and distribution systems. Typical power generation equipment supported may include MEP 5/TQG-805 for TPN-19 and MSN-7, MEP 6/TQG-806, MEP 16 for the TRN-26. Additional experience: installing, removing, and operating electrical power generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches, and associated equipment; interpreting ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges; adjusting generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency, and synchronization; synchronization of multi-generators; operating voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls on switchgear and distribution panels; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; experience with ATCALS HVAC operation and maintenance.
