(AFG-KANDAHAR) Food Service Unskilled Laborer
Job*Summary*
The Food Service Unskilled Laborer ensures that storage, serving, and dining areas are prepared, stocked, and cleaned in a manner that consistently meets food service quality standards.
Principal Accountabilities
- Follow all regulations, policies, and procedures regarding food handling, personal hygiene, safety, and proper sanitation
- Operate, maintain, and/or clean food service equipment including temperature-controlled storage units, dry storage containers, steamers, ovens, fryers, broilers, grills, meat slicers, knifes, pots, pans, floors, walls, windows, and outside areas
- Receive, offload, and correctly store food deliveries using a first in, first out organization approach
- Issue food and consumables from stores to dining facility departments
- Perform food preparation, quality checking, serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in dining facility
- Clean and stock cabinets, serving and condiment areas, beverage and ice dispensers
- Carry food, dishes, trays, and silverware from kitchens and supply departments to serving counters
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel
- Knowledgeable of food service and sanitation standards
- Willingness to learn and grow in food service abilities
- Mature in judgment and behavior
- Able to multi-task and handle service points such as grille, cashier duties, and food preparation
- Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to a positive dining atmosphere
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one (1) year experience in full service or institutional food service environment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Able to stand for long periods of time such as ten (10) to twelve (12) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
- Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
- Must have good vision, reading ability, wrist movements, and physical feeling to operate food service equipment
- Able to talk and hear well to instruct employees and assist dining facility customers
- Position requires shift work, days and nights
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
