Position: Field Security Technician
Location: Kabul, Afghanistan


Position Summary: The Field Security Technician (FST) will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all technical and security communications equipment.
Essential Functions:


  • Maintain (preventive and corrective maintenance) and repair all technical and communications security equipment

  • Install, maintain, and repair communications equipment, Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), alarm systems, imminent danger notification systems, intrusion systems, and access control systems

  • Establish and implement maintenance plans and inventory/accountability systems

  • Assist with radio communication encryption (key loading communications equipment)

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of Blue Force Tracker

  • Enforce communications SOPs and maintenance and accountability plans

Crucial Requirements and Abilities:


  • One (1) year of overseas experience performing as a technical/communication security equipment technician

  • Five (5) years experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of communications/electronics security equipment

  • Either military or civilian certified electronics technician

  • English language proficiency (minimum Level III)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Proven technical skills and competency in communications and information technology fields

  • Ability to establish, maintain and enforce operational standards

  • Highly effective communications skills including strong written and oral presentation skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability and willingness to work in hostile and conflict environment

  • Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility

  • Ability to maintain effective communications with individuals and agencies from diverse cultures and backgrounds including U.S. Government, host nation government and law enforcement

  • Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies

  • Ability to understand and successfully handle various high-pressure and dynamic operational situations

  • Ability to liaise with multiple agencies and organizations simultaneously, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and competence
