Safety and QA/AC Manager
PAE is currently seeking a QC and Safety Manager to support the contract for the US Department of State and working at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The QC and Safety Manager will:
Provide site safety leadership, ensure program compliance with corporate and Embassy safety standards, implement safety directives, maintain the programs spotless safety performance, and ensure program safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.
Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
Perform safety audits and inspect task orders and projects, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities. Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development.
Order and maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
Work within company policy and in compliment with the EM385-1-1 and Camp Safety rules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with traveling to and working on such sites. This position works ten hours/day six days a week minimum.
To qualify for the QC and Safety Manager position, candidate must meet below requirements:
A relevant college degree in Environmental Science or Industrial Safety is required.
At least 5-7 years of progressive field safety experience is required. Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EM385-1-1) is required.
Prior experience in providing site safety leadership to any OCONUS Camp, including providing oversight to compliance with safety standards and government regulations is highly preferred.
Prior experience in conducting safety audits and inspections, and implementing continuous improvement practices is required.
Well-developed communication skills and team negotiation skills are required.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
Must have good organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred.
Ability to work effectively with multi-cultural workforce.
Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment preferred.
Citizenship: US Citizenship is required for this position.
Clearance: Must have an active Top Secret security clearance.
Must be willing to travel periodically (with extended overnight stays) as required while working on projects at other locations in Afghanistan.
