(AFG-KANDAHAR) Airfield Operations Supv
Job Summary
The Airfield Operations Supervisor supervises airfield operations, functions, and activities, and serves as the designated representative of the Airfield Operations Manager.
Principal Accountabilities
- Coordinate with aircraft crews, air traffic control, and various base agencies that provide for safe operation of aircraft in the airfield environment and through national and international airspace
- Procure, maintain, and produce information such as flight plans, flight information, publications, aeronautical charts, maps, Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), local airfield and navigational status, weather information, and flight-following services for the safe operation of aircraft through national and international airspace
- Inspect airfields and coordinate with other agencies to meet aircrew requirements for billeting, messing, refueling, transportation, and transient aircraft maintenance
- Perform “Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration” (RSO&I;) functions for transiting aircraft and crews
- Perform and supervise airfield management activities and ensure a safe operating environment for personnel and aircraft operation
- Coordinate with agencies such as air traffic control, weather station personnel, and engineers to ensure support of airfield activities
- Respond to Foreign Object Damage (FOD) reports to determine operational status of runways/taxiways; remove FOD hazards as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to plan and organize airfield operations
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, instructions, and directives pertaining to airfield planning and design criteria, aircraft operations, and airfield management
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
- Skill in analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
Experience & Education
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working in airfield or related positions
- Prefer at least three (3) years as an Airfield Supervisor
- Bachelor Degree in associated discipline; may substitute two (2) additional years of experience in related field for each year of college
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
