This is a potential backfill for current employees in support of the JIEDDO/JIDA J3 in Reston VA.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a temporary fill starting 1 November 2016 thru 10 Jan 2017, with the potential, but no guarantee for follow-on work.

Serve as a Senior Operations Advisor. Must have a current TS/SCI. Cannot be on military Terminal Leave,

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Senior Operations Advisor, you will provide both general operational expertise as well as accomplish routine action officer tasks on behalf of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization/Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Agency, J3. Drawing from your extensive operational background, you will provide guidance and assist our customer in managing programs both internally focused as well as external in nature. You will collaborate across our military services and synchronize actions internal to the organization. As an action officer you will manage meetings and video teleconferences, write memorandums and information papers, and manage projects. You will be expected to brief senior military (three star general officer) and government leaders. This position requires an energetic and adaptable former military officer who can accomplish tasks with little or no guidance as both a team and individually.

Required Qualifications:

• TS/SCI Current


• Bachelor’s Degree


• Minimum fifteen (15) years military service with ten (10) years operations staff experience at the tactical and operational level and four (4) years joint organizational experience.


• Experience managing, coordinating, and advising multi-disciplinary teams that perform technical, operational analysis, administrative or professional work in an irregular warfare-focused organization or equivalent.


• Experience in refining tactics techniques and procedures and concepts of operation for emerging initiatives, reviewing and recommending strategic policies as well as operational level plans.


• Exhibit’s working knowledge of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) or DoD equivalent


• Experience in written communications and the construction of briefings

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience on a DOD joint staff


• C-IED experience (experience with the Joint IED Defeat Organization/Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Agency)


• Experience briefing senior military leaders (General Officer/Flag Officer)


• Extensive senior level planning and advising experience (Strategic Planner)


• Recent experience conducting action officer work (running meetings, scheduling, conducting video teleconferences)


• Recent combat arms experience in Iraq and/or Afghanistan


• Extensive experience with the MS Office suite of tools, including SharePoint.
